Health Check Visa application South Africa

Are you going to South Africa for a longer period of time, for example to work or study?

Make sure you are well prepared and meet the visa requirements, sometimes this includes a medical check!

Declaration of Health South Africa

If a medical check is required, what do you need to consider? Here are some important aspects that are assessed during such an examination:

  • Thorax X-ray: (This is not always required, check with the embassy!) This chest X-ray helps detect lung problems, such as TB.
  • Physical examination: A thorough check of your overall health.
  • Height/weight (BMI): This measurement provides insight into your body mass index.
  • Blood pressure: A crucial measurement to determine whether your blood pressure is within a healthy range.
  • Vision: A simple eye test to check your vision.
  • Urinalysis: An analysis of your urine to check health indicators such as glucose, protein and signs of infections.
  • Medical history: Discussion of your medical history and any current health problems.

Medical Certificate South Africa

In addition, the ‘Republic of South Africa Department of Home Affairs Medical Certificate’ must be completed by an independent doctor. The results of any thoracic X-ray are recorded on a separate ‘Radiological report’. You will receive these forms from the embassy.

At Keurdokter, we offer an all-in rate and schedule all examinations on the same day. This makes the process even more efficient and convenient.
